Installing Outside Door Handle

Installing outside door handle.

Install the latch determine whether you want to use a flat rectangular faceplate or a round drive in faceplate. Remove the screws from the face plate behind the handle on the exterior side of the door using a screwdriver or drill. Remember that some knobs and handles screw on. Install the outside handle if your new door handle attaches to the door at a point below the lower borehole.

Install both knobs by sliding the spindle through the slot in the latch. Press the new knobs or handles into place. Installing a door handle is a relatively easy diy project. Slide the outer knob or handle onto the handle mechanism s cylinder on the outside of the door and press it until it snaps into place.

Do the same for the inner knob or handle. Align the two long screws from the inside knob into the cylinders on the exterior door knob and tighten the screws. Install the inside. Remove the two screws holding the strike plate in place on the door jamb and install the new one in the same position.

Remove the latch plate.
